Guidelines for International Students seeking admission at Indira University
1. Please read the guidelines and admission procedure before filling online application form.
2. Please write the correct first name and surname in the application form as mentioned in the passport. No changes will be allowed later.
3. Applicants should clearly mention the program to which they are seeking admission while mentioning options & specializations.
4. A valid Student Visa is necessary on arrival for admission to be completed from the Indian Visa Portal or e-student visa facility. No admission will be granted on a Tourist Visa / X Visa /Entry Visa/ Medical Visa etc.
5. All documents need to be translated into English.
6. Visit the “Office for International Affairs”, Indira University with all uploaded original documents, applicable visa, etc. The university may allow a change of course depending on the vacancies before the applicant physically submits the original documents.
7. In the case of students under the “Foreign National” category, it is mandatory to carry a mark sheet attested by the Ministry of Education or Indian Embassy in the country of residence of the student Embassy or Consulate in India.
8. It is mandatory for all students to produce the same documents in original at the time of Final submission, as have been uploaded at the time of filling the online application form & subsequently.
9. For admission in UG level programs, it is compulsory to have 10+2 i.e. (12 years) of schooling.
10. Only students having a Bachelor's Degree are eligible to apply for Master’s Degree Admission.
11. The application will be scrutinized by the Office of International Affairs & cross-verified by the respective Schools for Eligibility of the applicant in the applied program & stream. The decision of the “Office for International Affairs” shall be final & binding.
12. In case the documents are found to be fake/forged at the time of submission, the application will be rejected and legal action will be taken under the Indian Penal Code.
13. It is a compulsory requirement for foreign students to have a valid passport to study in India which also includes applicants from countries not requiring a passport for travel to India.
14. A passport-size photograph of the applicant with a white background & visibility of both ears should be uploaded.
15. The Office for International Affairs will issue an offer of Provisional Admission Letter for acceptance by the applicant. The applicant will have 10 days of time to accept/reject the offer. In case the applicant wishes to accept the offer, an acceptance letter signed digitally by the applicant, has to be submitted by the applicant for further process.
16. After submitting the acceptance, the applicant should approach the concerned Indian Embassy for the issuance of an appropriate student Visa with the required documents. It is pertinent to note that the applicant has registered himself/herself on a study in India portal & obtained the Unique ID, failure to which, the visa will not be issued by the concerned authorities.
17. Once the visa is granted, a copy of the visa should be emailed to the official id of the Office for International Affairs.
18. Each Student has to procure a Medical Insurance policy for a value of at least 5 lakh INR or equivalent. Students have the discretion to buy medical insurance in their country before departure or on their arrival in India. It is up to the students to select the insurance package. In case of no medical insurance, Indira University will not be liable to bear the medical expenses of the applicant. In case of exigencies, the student should contact his/her respective Embassy/diplomatic representative in India.
19. All international students including Children of workers in Gulf & South East Asia & PIO/OCI must complete their medical check-up within three months from the date of confirmed admission.
20. The students who wish to join Indira University should invariably bring the following documents:
i. Original documents relating to their qualifications for verification
ii. English Translation of the documents in Original
iii. Certified copy of the syllabus of the last qualifying examination
iv. Valid Passport with applicable Visa (Student visa for Undergraduate/ Postgraduate studies & applicable visa for Ph.D studies)
21. It is reiterated that the admission remains provisional till the time Indira University verifies the authenticity of the original documents.
22. If on arrival, it is found that the student does not possess the required original or has lost the documents during transit on the basis of which the admission has been finalized, the students will themselves be responsible for the consequences including denial of admission by Indira University and student will have to return to his/her country.
23. After admission, the students are advised to stay in the University hostel. However, if they choose to stay in private accommodation, they will have to give an undertaking that they themselves are responsible for their safety & security. If they are staying in a University hostel, they would have to adhere to the hostel policies (same as that for Indian Students) failure to which disciplinary action shall be initiated by the University.
Supernumerary Seats:
1. Indira University may fill up to 25% of supernumerary seats for international students which includes Foreign Nationals/NRI/OCI/CIWGC in UG and PG programs, over and above the total sanctioned intake. For Ph. D admission, there shall be 2 supernumerary seats for foreign students each for every approved research guide of Indira University.
2. Seats under Student Exchange Programs or MOUs between Institutions or Governments will not be included in this 25%.
3. Unfilled Supernumerary seats will not be allocated to domestic students.
4. The distribution of seats among various schools and programs will be based on eligibility, available infrastructure, and faculty.
English Language requirement for International Students
All international applicants are required to fulfill one of the following English requirements irrespective of the program in which they are seeking admission. If an applicant is seeking admission in a program where English is not prescribed as a compulsory course in the eligibility condition, even then he/she has to fulfill one of the following English Language requirements.
Applicant must have passed English course in 10th or higher examination
OR
Applicants have done his/her education (eligibility qualification or higher) in some university/school where English has been the instruction language. In such cases, applicants have to provide proof of the same from the University/School or have to provide a document that is available on the official website of the University/School.
OR
In case applicants do not fall in any of the above categories then he/she will have to provide one of the following proof of English language Proficiency
