Did you know snakes aren’t just mysterious creatures but vital guardians of our ecosystem?

At Indira University, this curiosity found its answers during the workshop by The Wild Ones Club, “Wildlife Wonders: All About Snakes” on 16th September 2025 at the Pharmacy Auditorium. The session was led by Dr. Ashish D. Chimbalkar, an academician, researcher, and passionate wildlife explorer, whose knowledge and storytelling brought the wilderness of the Western Ghats straight into the hearts of our students.

From exploring the difference between venomous and non-venomous species to understanding snakebite precautions, ecological importance, and the larger call for conservation, the event was nothing short of fascinating. Students were taken on an immersive journey into the hidden world of biodiversity and survival, where every story sparked awe and curiosity.

The session also guided students on an immersive audio-visual journey into the wildlife of the Western Ghats, allowing them to explore its rich biodiversity, understand the survival strategies of different species, and appreciate their ecological importance. Through this experience, students gained a deeper awareness of conservation practices, sustainable living and the delicate balance that keeps nature thriving.

What stood out most was the reaction of our learners. They left the auditorium with fascination and knowledge, carrying with them new insights and their own role in protecting nature. For many, it was a shift in perspective, reminding us that conservation begins with awareness.

We believe in nurturing and finding a balance between the intellect and empathy for the natural world, here at Indira University. Hosting such thought-provoking experiences helps our students grow as informed, responsible individuals who can look beyond textbooks and connect with the living world around them.

The day left us all with stories worth sharing and a renewed sense of responsibility toward the wild wonders that surround us.
