With an atmosphere steeped in devotion and calm, Soor Mahatee Mahotsav 2025 was held on 29^th and 30^th November. On the 1^st day, Vedic chants and the treasured Ganesh Vandana by Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe filled the hall with sacred resonance. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Dr. Hari Sahasrabuddhe alongside Prof. Chetan Wakalkar, – Academic Advisor & CMO – Indira University & IGI, whose presence reflected the university’s proud role as Title Sponsor and a committed torchbearer of India’s classical traditions.

From the first note forward, the Mahotsav felt like a living experience of discipline, heritage and artistic sincerity. Students from the School of Liberal Arts, Indira University, graced the stage with the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal’s Sanghik Prarthana, performed with such poise that it set a beautifully elevated tone for the festival. Their participation and stood as a reminder of Indira’s belief that classical arts must be nurtured in the hands of the young, carried forward with both pride and reverence.

On the 2^nd day, the Mahotsav unfolded as a seamless tapestry; soulful violin, evocative vocal recitals, graceful Kathak, introspective video tributes and intervals that allowed audiences to breathe in every moment. The next day opened with Vande Ganapatim and warm introductions, followed by the serene “Jay Jagdish Hare” video clip. Performances by Shri Atul Khandekar, carrying forward his guru’s rich musical lineage, added depth to the morning. The afternoon featured a series of heartfelt felicitations, honouring contributors including Dr. Sanjeev Shende, Dr. Ashok Parikh, Hon. Chandrakant Patil, and leaders of the Foundation, alongside Prof. Wakalkar, reinforcing the significance of Indira University’s cultural engagement.

The later sessions included an elegant Kathak presentation by Devesh Mirchandani, followed by a warm vote of thanks. As evening settled, the festival reached emotional heights with a special audiovisual tribute, Parijaat Phulala, commemorating Padmashree Jaymala Shiledar. The finale featured the spellbinding artistry of Padmashree Vidushi Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, whose recital in Bhairavi wrapped the Mahotsav in a glow of pure classical brilliance.

As the curtains fell, the Soor Mahatee Foundation felicitated Indira University, represented by Prof. Ashutosh Misal, a gesture that reaffirmed a shared mission.
